More than a decade after Malcolm Butler intercepted Russell Wilson at the goal line, the Seattle Seahawks are finally getting their shot at payback.
The Seahawks will once again face the New England Patriots, this time in Super Bowl 60 – the same opponent they faced in their last Super Bowl appearance in 2015. Seattle’s NFC title that year was its second consecutive conference championship, but it ended in a heartbreaking, 28-24 loss to New England in Super Bowl 49 after Butler’s goal-line interception.

With Seattle back in the Super Bowl again, it’s time to look back at the Seahawks’ history of Super Bowl appearances and wins. How many times have they been to the Big Game? How many times have they won a Lombardi Trophy?

How many times have Seahawks been to the Super Bowl?
Super Bowl 60 will be the fourth time that Seattle plays in a Super Bowl, meaning the Seahawks have previously been to the Big Game three other times before. Their fourth appearance will tie them with the Colts, Vikings and Bills for 14th-most Super Bowl appearances of any team.

The Seahawks are looking to pull themselves back up to a .500 win percentage in appearances in the NFL’S championship game. Seattle lost its first appearance to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl 40 in 2006, won its second appearance over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48, then lost its attempt at back-to-back titles to the Patriots in Super Bowl 49.
How many Super Bowls have the Seahawks won?
The Seahawks have won one Super Bowl in their franchise history, which dates back to 1976.
Their one victory was 12 years ago, during the “Legion of Boom” era in Seattle. The Seahawks’ strong defense helped lift them to a 43-8 win over the Broncos in Super Bowl 48, with Denver’s first snap resulting in a safety and its only score coming on the last play of the third quarter.
Full list of Seahawks Super Bowl appearances, results
Here is a complete look at the results from the Seahawks’ last three Super Bowl outings in chronological order:
Super Bowl 48: Seattle Seahawks 43, Denver Broncos 8
The Seahawks have been around since 1976, but it took until the 2005 season to capture their first conference championship. That includes Seattle’s entire, 25-year stint in the AFC between 1977 and 2001. When the Seahawks won their first conference championship 20 years ago, it was in the NFC, but they lost Super Bowl 40 to the Steelers and second-year quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Seattle returned to the Super Bowl eight years later on the back of its strong defense, dominating the Broncos to the point that Denver didn’t score until the final play of the third quarter and then never again. One year after that, the Seahawks returned to the Big Game but fell to the Patriots after second-year cornerback Malcolm Butler had his first career interception at the goal line in the final minute.
