Borge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum (WEF) has resigned from his post. His decision has come at a time when this Geneva-based organization had started investigating his relationship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein just a few weeks ago.
Brande had been leading the WEF since 2017. At present, this Switzerland-based organization has confirmed his resignation and handed over interim responsibility to Alois Zwingi.
The investigation was started after the report of the US Justice Department. According to Reuters report, US Justice Department documents revealed that Brende had three business dinners with Epstein. Apart from this, there was also conversation between them through email and text message. After these revelations, this Geneva-based organization started an independent investigation into Brande’s previous contacts.
Nothing else was found wrong in the internal review WEF co-chairmen Andre Hoffman and Larry Fink issued a separate statement saying the investigation by the outside counsel has been completed. The investigation found nothing new or suspicious other than the ties to Epstein that had already been disclosed. The Board of Trustees will now begin the process to search for Brende’s successor.

Who was Jeffrey Epstein? Jeffrey Epstein was a millionaire financier from New York. He was friends with big leaders and celebrities.
He was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2005. In 2008 he was convicted of soliciting sex from a minor. He was jailed for 13 months. In 2019, Jeffrey was arrested on sex trafficking charges. But before the trial he committed suicide in jail.
His partner Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of charges of helping him in 2021. She is serving a 20-year sentence.
