Afghanistan has attacked Pakistan’s Noor Khan airbase. This base is just 25 km away from the headquarters of the Pakistani Army and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Continuous air strikes and firing have been going on for the last four days on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Taliban government says that we have attacked Pakistan’s very sensitive Noor Khan airbase. This airbase is in Rawalpindi.
Along with this, a Taliban minister claimed that their fighters have crossed the Durand Line and entered Pakistani soil. According to the Taliban, some military bases in Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also been attacked.
This action was taken in response to the air strikes carried out by Pakistan in Kabul, Bagram and other areas. On the other hand, the Pakistan government has claimed that so far more than 400 Afghan fighters have been killed and hundreds have been injured.

According to the Taliban, the targets targeted included:
- Noor Khan Airbase
- Headquarters of 12th Corps in Quetta, Balochistan
- A military camp in the Mohammad region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
War like situation between Pakistan and Afghanistan
The conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan started on 22 February. Pakistan had conducted airstrike in the border areas of Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Deputy Home Minister Talal Chaudhary had claimed that at least 70 fighters were killed in the action on TTP hideouts in the border areas. Later Pakistani newspaper Dawn claimed that this number had reached 80. In response, Afghanistan attacked Pakistan on 27 February.
The Afghan Defense Ministry had said that Pakistan would be given a ‘strong response at the right time’. The ministry had described these attacks as a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
Pakistan has been pressurizing the Taliban government of Afghanistan for a long time to not allow its land to be used by any terrorist organization. Islamabad alleges that TTP is operating from Afghanistan, while the Taliban government has consistently denied these allegations.

Pakistan kills 415 Taliban fighters in Afghanistan
Pakistan has named the attack against Afghanistan as ‘Gazab Lil Haq’ operation and carried out attacks in many provinces including Kabul. According to Pakistan’s Information Minister Atta Ullah Tarar, till now –
- 415 Taliban fighters were killed
- More than 580 were injured
- 182 posts were destroyed
- 31 posts were captured
- 185 tanks and military vehicles were destroyed
The Pakistani Air Force has claimed that it targeted Taliban military headquarters in Nangarhar and Kandahar.
Whereas Taliban says that only 8 to 13 of its fighters were killed and some were injured. It claimed that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and several posts, including two army headquarters, were captured. Taliban has warned that if Pakistan attacks further, a stronger response will be given.

Condemnation motion passed in Pakistan Parliament
Pakistan’s Senate passed a condemnation resolution against Afghanistan. The Foreign Ministry said that a strong and decisive response will be given to any further provocation.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited the Army Headquarters and reiterated the policy of zero tolerance. Pakistan’s Information Minister termed the Afghan Taliban government as illegal and alleged that the rights of women and minorities are being snatched there.
There has been tension between the two countries before
There is a long standing dispute between Afghanistan and Pakistan regarding the Durand Line. Both countries keep accusing each other of attacks and hiding terrorists. Tension has increased further after Taliban took control of Afghanistan government in 2021.
