When it comes to spending and donating or paying taxes, Indian-origin Americans are far ahead in comparison to their population. In the first part of ‘The Story of the Strength of Indians in America’ prepared by BCG and Indiaspora, read how Indians are playing an important role in the American economy… The success of the Indian community in America is not limited to individual achievements only, but it has become an essential part of the economic structure of the country. Despite the Indian population being only 1.5% in America, this community contributes 5-6% taxes to the American treasury. From the boardrooms of Silicon Valley to small shops in small towns, Indian-origin entrepreneurs have created jobs for millions of Americans. From leading Fortune 500 companies to creating new unicorns, Indian hard work and ingenuity have kept America ahead of the world. They are spending Rs 42 lakh crore annually. Every family of Indian origin in America is spending an average of Rs 2.8 crore annually. A total of 51 lakh people of Indian origin live in America, which is almost half of the total population of Uttarakhand. – 51 lakh Indian Americans alone spend 79% of the annual budget made by India for its 140 crore people every year. Rs 28 lakh crore every year. If we look at the taxes paid in terms of their total population, the Indians are paying more than 4 times the taxes. – The average age of the Indian diaspora is 36 years, that of Americans is 39.2. The average income of Indians is 1.36 lakh dollars, which is almost double that of Americans of 70 thousand dollars. – 16 Indian-origin CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are providing 25 lakh jobs. Students of Indian origin have donated more than three billion dollars to American universities since 2008, giving Rs 91 thousand crore annually. According to Open Doors, 2.7 lakh students from India enrolled in American universities for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in 2022-23, which is 25% of the foreign student population in America. – These students spend Rs 91,000 crore annually. 93,000 jobs are created. 60% of America’s Hotels Indian involvement in the hotel business began with Kanji Desai in the 1940s. – Indians own about 60% of the hotels, earning about Rs 64 lakh crore annually. Revenue comes and more than 40 lakh jobs have been created. – Indians also own 35-50% of small shops. About Rs 45 lakh crore from these. Revenue of Rs.
