Bus falls into river in Bangladesh, 16 killed: 40 people were on board, 11 survived; Accident happened while boarding the ferry

A passenger bus fell into the Padma river in Bangladesh on Wednesday. So far 16 people have died in the accident. 11 passengers saved their lives by swimming. There were about 40 people in the bus. The accident occurred at Dauladiya Terminal in Rajbari district. The bus was boarding the ferry. Meanwhile, the driver lost control and the bus fell straight into the river. In Bangladesh, ferries are used to take buses and vehicles across the river. It is like a big boat or ship. Prime Minister Tariq Rehman has taken information about the rescue operation. Also, orders have been given to investigate the accident. The bus was taken out after 6 hours. With the help of a ship named ‘Hamza’, the rescue team took out the bus at midnight after about 6 hours of effort. 14 bodies were found inside the bus, while divers had already recovered the bodies of two women. Fire service and coast guard divers are searching for the missing people with the help of the army and police. People were returning to Dhaka after Eid. Officials said that the bus was going to Dhaka. Many passengers on board were returning to the capital after finishing the Eid holidays, including children. According to eyewitnesses, many people traveling in the bus belonged to the same family. Some people were saved by standing outside, while their family members remained trapped inside the bus. ————-
