A passenger bus fell into the Padma river in Bangladesh on Wednesday. So far 16 people have died in the accident, while many people are missing. There were about 40 people in the bus. The accident occurred at Dauladiya Terminal in Rajbari district. The bus was boarding the ferry. Meanwhile, a small ferry hit the pontoon. According to Terminal Supervisor Monir Hussain, after the collision, the driver lost control and the bus fell straight into the river. Prime Minister Tariq Rehman took information about the rescue operation and ordered an investigation into the accident. The bus was taken out after 6 hours. With the help of a ship named ‘Hamza’, the rescue team took out the bus at midnight after about 6 hours of effort. 14 bodies were found inside the bus, while divers had already recovered the bodies of two women. Fire service and coast guard divers are searching for the missing people with the help of the army and police. According to police, about 11 passengers managed to swim out or were rescued. People were returning to Dhaka after Eid. Officials said that the bus was going to Dhaka. Many passengers on board were returning to the capital after finishing the Eid holidays, including children.
