After the incident, the plane was stopped on the runway and all the passengers were evacuated safely. Airport authorities have started technical inspection of the aircraft.

An Air India Express flight in Thailand met with an accident during landing on Wednesday afternoon. As the plane landed on the runway, its nose gear broke and the front wheel separated. The flight was going from Hyderabad to Phuket.

According to Thai newspaper The Nation, the runway had to be closed for some time after the incident, although all 133 passengers on board the plane were evacuated safely and there were no reports of injuries.

This flight reached Phuket before the scheduled time. The scheduled landing time of the plane was 11:40 am, but it landed only at 11:24 am. It is being told that the landing of the plane was very fast, due to which its front landing gear was damaged. Due to the wheel being separated, the aircraft could not be immediately removed from the runway.

White powder is also visible on the runway, which is usually sprinkled by airport rescue teams for safety, to reduce the risk of fire if fuel leaks.

Air India confirmed

Airport authorities quickly brought the situation under control. There were seven crew members, 131 passengers and two children on board. Following the incident, Phuket International Airport temporarily closed the runway so that the aircraft could be removed and runway safety checks could be conducted.

According to the airport, Air India Express flight AXB938 had come to Phuket from Hyderabad. This aircraft was a Boeing 737-800, whose registration number is VT-BWQ.

“We confirm that our Hyderabad-Phuket flight on March 11 experienced a nose wheel problem at Phuket Airport,” Air India Express said in a statement. The nose wheel is an essential part of the landing gear system of an aircraft.

Nose gear broken due to sharp landing of the plane

Preliminary investigation revealed that the plane’s landing was too fast, causing damage to the nose landing gear and the plane could not move off the runway.

Phuket International Airport issued a runway closure notice from 12:08 pm to 6 pm. Also, the airport administration along with the concerned agencies took charge of the situation and followed all the security rules.

The airport has asked the affected passengers to contact their airline to check flight status and travel related information before coming to the airport, so that any kind of problem can be avoided.
