A passenger bus fell from the highway into a river in Nepal’s Dhading district early Monday. According to Nepali media, 18 people died in the accident, while 25 people were injured. The dead include a male and a female foreign national. However, which country they were from and their names have not been revealed yet. According to the Police Force (APF), 17 bodies have been recovered so far. The death of another passenger was later confirmed, taking the death toll to 18. The people injured in the accident have been rescued and admitted to different hospitals. The dead and injured have not been identified yet. The bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) was going from Pokhara towards Kathmandu, when for some reason the driver lost control of the bus and the bus fell into the Trishuli river. The accident took place around 1:30 am in Bhainsigouda area of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-5 of Dhading district. At present the reason for the accident is not clear. The police is investigating the matter There were 44 people traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. Those who died included 12 men and 6 women. Police said that there were a total of 44 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. 26 injured passengers have been rescued. Some are being treated at a local hospital, while most have been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment. The rescue operation was hampered as the accident occurred at midnight. However, personnel of security agencies along with local residents carried out rescue operations.
