There is an atmosphere of celebration for four days in the capital Dublin on the occasion of ‘St. Patrick’s Day’, Ireland’s biggest national festival. More than 5 lakh people from all over the world participated in this festival. The main attraction of the festival was the National Parade taken out on 17 March. During this time, international marching bands, dancers and colorful tableaux were seen on the streets. The entire city was colored green this St. Patrick’s Day. Everywhere you looked in Dublin, green was visible and different accents from around the world could be heard. The festive atmosphere was in full swing and a huge parade was taken out in front of the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins. Global visitors to Ireland’s capital were dressed in various shades of green, to the sounds of Irish traditional music, local and international marching bands and constant street entertainment. Cultural events were also organized in many areas including Dublin. This festival is held on the death anniversary of ‘St. Patrick’, the patron saint of Ireland, who propagated Christianity here in the 5th century. After receiving religious recognition from the Church in the year 1631, it has now become a global cultural festival. The first parade took place in 1931.
