A bus fell into the Padma river in Rajbari district of Bangladesh on Wednesday evening. So far 16 people have died in the accident, while many people are still missing. There were about 40 passengers in the bus.
The rescue team pulled out the bus after about 6 hours with the help of a ship named ‘Hamza’. 14 bodies were found inside the bus, while divers had already recovered the bodies of two women.
With the help of fire service, coast guard, police and army teams, divers are searching for the missing people. According to police, about 11 passengers swam out or were rescued.
Officials said the bus was going to Dhaka. Most of the passengers aboard were returning after spending the Eid holidays, including many children.
Prime Minister Tariq Rehman took information about the accident and instructed the officials to speed up the rescue work and investigation.
