North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un has issued a stern warning to South Korea. Kim has said that if his country’s security is threatened, he can ‘completely destroy’ South Korea. At the conclusion of the seven-day Workers’ Party Congress in Pyongyang, Kim presented a blueprint to accelerate the nuclear and missile programs for the next five years. He talked about developing underwater intercontinental ballistic missiles, expansion of tactical nuclear weapons, nuclear-powered submarines, AI-enabled drones and advanced satellites. Describing South Korea as a ‘permanent enemy’, Kim said that there is no scope for talks with it. At the same time, he said that dialogue is possible if America abandons the policy of sanctions and pressure. After the congress, a grand military parade was organized in the capital, in which Kim was seen with his daughter. Although large ICBMs capable of hitting America were not displayed in the parade, experts believe that on one hand Kim is strengthening his nuclear program, while on the other hand he is also keeping options open for possible future talks with America.
