US President Donald Trump has said that the Cuban government may fall soon and America can move towards an agreement with it.
“Cuba is going to collapse very soon. They want to make a deal with us, so I’m going to send Secretary of State Marco Rubio over there and see what happens,” Trump said in a phone interview with CNN.
However, he also clarified that at present the priority of the US administration is the current conflict related to Iran. Trump said Cuba would be addressed later. Trump further said that “I have been watching Cuba for 50 years and now it has fallen in my lap.”
Relations between the United States and Cuba have been tense for several decades, involving political confrontation and economic sanctions.
