14 former international cricket captains from 5 countries have written a letter to the Pakistan government regarding the ill health of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. 73 year old Imran is in jail since August 2023. This letter has been signed by Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Greg Chappell, Belinda Clark, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Ian Chappell, Allan Border, Michael Brierley, David Gower, Kim Hughes, Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh and John Wright. According to the report of Hindustan Times, 14 veteran captains have appealed to Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif to provide proper treatment to Imran. According to the report, this letter has not been signed by any former Pakistani captain. However, last week several former Pakistani cricketers including Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shahid Afridi took to social media demanding proper treatment for Imran. Imran Khan was the captain of the Pakistani team that won the World Cup in 1992. Imran has lost 85% of the vision in one eye. Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has lost about 85% of the vision in one eye. This was revealed in the investigation conducted on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Supreme Court-appointed lawyer Salman Safdar had said in his report that Imran Khan had been complaining to the jail administration about blurred vision for several months. His vision was normal till October 2025, but later the vision in the right eye suddenly decreased. During the investigation, an eye expert from Pims Hospital was called. Doctors found that Imran had a blood clot in his eye, causing serious damage. Even after treatment and injections, only about 15% vision is left in his right eye. Imran says that he has not been allowed to get treatment from a private doctor. Report- Imran Khan is suffering from mental pressure. According to the report, Imran Khan has been kept in continuous isolation in Adiala jail since October 2023. The former PM’s lawyer said that his regular blood test was not done. He was not even taken to a dentist in two years, although he had requested for it several times. During the meeting he appeared very upset and mentally under pressure. The report also states that restrictions were imposed on meeting his family and lawyers. Despite court orders, his sisters were not allowed to meet regularly. However, after the recent change in the jail administration, he has now been allowed to meet his wife for 30 minutes once a week. He was allowed to talk to his sons Qasim and Suleman on phone only twice in 2025. For the last five months, he was not even allowed to meet his main lawyer and legal team. The report ends with a warning that if better medical check-ups, as well as access to family and lawyers, are not immediately restored, their health could be at serious risk. Claim- Imran has Central Retinal Vein Occlusion disease. Imran Khan’s party PTI had told last month that a disease called Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) has been found in Imran Khan’s right eye. The party had said that in the opinion of medical experts, if proper treatment is not given, Imran may lose his eyesight forever. CRVO is a serious eye disease. In this, there is a blockage in the main vein that carries blood out of the retina inside the eye. Retina is the part of the eye that works for seeing. After the vein gets closed, blood starts accumulating in the retina. This causes swelling and may also cause bleeding. If this condition persists for a long time, permanent damage to the retina can occur. According to experts, the risk of vision loss in CRVO is greater when treatment is delayed. Especially if the blockage is complete, there is excessive swelling in the retina or there is frequent bleeding. In many cases, if treatment is not received within 24 to 72 hours, the damage can be permanent. In case of CRVO, immediate treatment is necessary. Treatment of CRVO is not possible with normal medicines or small clinics. For this, retina specialist is required immediately. During treatment, special injections are given to reduce swelling inside the eye. In some cases laser treatment also has to be done. Apart from this, it is also important to control diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol, because these are considered to be major causes of blockage. For the treatment of this disease, facilities like operation theatre, sterile environment and experienced specialists are necessary. Imran Khan has been in jail for 3 years. More than 100 cases are pending against Imran Khan and he is in jail since August 2023. He has been sentenced to 14 years in prison in a corruption case, which includes charges like selling government gifts (Toshakhana case) and leaking government secrets. Imran is accused of selling Pakistan government’s land worth billions of rupees cheaply to Al-Qadir Trust. Imran was arrested in this case on 9 May 2023. After this, many important army bases were attacked across the country. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of Pakistan had registered a case against Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and 6 other persons in December 2023 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. However, before this case was registered against Imran, he was already lodged in Adiala jail in the Toshakhana case. —————————- Also read this news… BLA’s claim – 17 Pakistani soldiers detained: 10 released, 7 still in captivity; 7-day moratorium for exchange Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on Sunday claimed that it detained 17 Pakistani soldiers.
