Ranjit Singh, an accused who murdered an ASI and a home guard jawan at the police post in Gurdaspur, has been killed by the police in an encounter in the morning. His other associate Inderjeet Singh absconded. The third accused Dilawar Singh is in the custody of the police. After the encounter, DIG Sandeep Goyal said that Pakistani intelligence agency ISI got this murder done by luring Rs 4 lakh. All three accused, Ranjit Singh, Dilawar Singh and Inderjit Singh were in touch with ISI handlers sitting in Pakistan. On the other hand, Ranjit Singh’s family raised questions on the police action and alleged fake encounter. Ranjeet’s mother Sukhwinder Kaur said that her son was innocent and the policemen falsely implicated him for their applause. He said that early today some policemen came to his house and forcibly took away his son. After some time, news of his encounter was received. Meanwhile, the police said that the encounter took place around 3 am on Wednesday. Ranjeet was arrested, after which he was taken to recover the weapon, but he escaped when the SHO’s car overturned there. After this the CIA team surrounded him in Purana Shala area. Seeing the police, he fired and tried to run away. Meanwhile, Ranjeet died after being shot in cross firing. Five employees including CIA in-charge Inspector Gurmeet Singh were injured. CM Bhagwant Mann also said during a program in Jalandhar PAP that the soldiers killed in the police post have been avenged. Links of the accused were found to be linked to Pakistan. Pakistan had sponsored them so that terror could be spread in Punjab. A few days ago, Home Guard jawan Ashok Kumar and ASI Gurnam Singh were shot dead at village Adiyan police post in Gurdaspur.
