President Donald Trump was furious after the downing of a US F-15 jet during the Iran war. They continued shouting at the officers for several hours. According to the report of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), for this reason officials kept him away from important briefings in the war room. However, the White House has rejected this report.

Two airmen were missing after a US F-15 jet was shot down over Iran on April 3. One was immediately rescued, but the other remained trapped in enemy territory for more than 24 hours.

The report quoted senior officials as saying that Trump was being informed about the situation by phone only on urgent occasions.

He was not included in meetings involving real-time operations because officials felt that his impatience could impact decisions.

Trump put pressure on immediate action

According to the report, when Trump got information about the missing of the airmen on Good Friday, he asked the army to ‘bring them back immediately.’ He demanded swift action, while operations inside Iran were complex and risky.

The US military was not operating on Iranian soil for decades. In such a situation, the officers had to decide how to enter enemy territory without being caught and how to evacuate the airmen.

Trump was not in the situation room at the time of rescue

During the rescue operation of the airmen, many officials including Vice President JD Vance and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles were continuously taking updates from the situation room. These meetings continued for the next 24 hours but Trump was not involved in them.

The report said that Trump was comparing the situation to the Iran hostage crisis in which the then President had to suffer a huge loss in the elections. This incident was constantly playing in his mind and as the operation progressed, his anxiety also increased.

Trump praised after the operation was successful

American agencies were continuously searching for the missing airman. He was also rescued safely on the evening of 4 April. According to a senior official, the mission was accomplished with the help of the CIA, which traced the airman’s location.

Officials described the operation as “finding a needle in a haystack.” According to the report, the CIA also ran a disinformation campaign in which it was spread that the airman had already been found, in order to mislead the enemy.

After the rescue, Trump praised the operation on Truth Social and described the rescued soldier as a brave warrior.

The very next day Trump made an abusive post

After the rescue operation, Trump warned Iran on social media the very next day. He posted an abusive message regarding opening the Strait of Hormuz.

The report said Trump deliberately used religious language and words like ‘Allah’ in the message to make Iran’s leaders uncomfortable.

On April 7, he made a more harsh statement that if this did not happen, “the entire civilization could come to an end.” However, a few hours later he also announced a two-week ceasefire from April 8.

According to WSJ, after these statements, concern increased around the world and American lawmakers sought information from the White House about Trump’s mental condition.

White House rejected the report

However, the White House rejected this claim outright. The White House said Trump was showing calm and strong leadership throughout.

Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said Trump remained the steady leader our country needs and the operation was consistent with his goal of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
