Bajil Carnival, one of the biggest festivals in the world, has reached its peak. The festival, which started on February 13, has now knocked in Rio de Janeiro after different cities. The carnival, which runs till 21st February, is witnessing record breaking crowds. This year it is estimated that around 6.5 crore people will participate. More than 4 thousand artists are participating in the carnival in different cities. About 80 lakh people are expected to come to Rio de Janeiro alone. Artists and samba schools taking part The center of the parade in Rio is the Sambadime, where 12 top-league samba schools are competing in the main competition. Dozens of schools in lower divisions parade with them. Every big Samba school has thousands of dancers, musicians, artisans, costume designers, tailors and set makers involved. According to a report, the budget of Pade Miguel, an emerging school alone, is around Rs 190 crore. About 70,000 temporary jobs are created every year in Rio alone. This includes security, cleaning, stalls, hotel restaurant staff, event management.
