Trump called India the gateway to hell: Said- Indians take citizenship by giving birth to children in America, then call the family.

US President Donald Trump has described India and China as hell holes. He has posted a letter on social media in which granting of citizenship on the basis of birth has been criticized and controversial remarks have been made on many countries including India and China. In this letter he claimed the dominance of people from India and China in the tech sector of California. He said that through citizenship on the basis of birth, migrants provide citizenship to their children. Then the whole family comes to America. Trump also said that the issue should not be decided by courts or lawyers, but by nationwide voting. He said that in a social media survey (poll), most of the people were of the opinion that citizenship based on birth should be limited. He also indicated that he did not trust the courts and legal institutions to take the right decision on this issue. Trump said- India-China’s dominance in California. Trump mentioned California’s tech sector in the letter. He said that people from India and China have a huge influence in high-tech jobs. According to him, the recruitment environment in the companies there has become such that there are very few opportunities left for the rest of the people. To get a job in these places, what matters more than qualification is which country you are from, and accordingly the system is working in such a way that Indian and Chinese people get priority. That is, according to him, the recruitment process is not fair, but is inclined in favor of certain groups. Expressing displeasure at the organization working for migrants, he also targeted the American Civil Liberty Union, which works to protect the rights of the people, in the letter. Said that this organization supports policies that benefit illegal immigrants. Trump said that action should be taken against this organization under strict laws like organized crime. Trump also alleged that immigrants overuse health services and other government facilities, which costs taxpayers. He also talked about alleged welfare fraud in states like California and the impact of immigration on cultural and linguistic identity. He said that now migrants get more treatment in hospitals and are taking advantage of the system. Trump alleged that huge expenditure is shown even on minor diseases. First- Right of Soil i.e. wherever the child is born, he automatically becomes a citizen of that place. Second, Right of Blood means that the child will be considered a citizen of the country where his/her parents are citizens. In America, citizenship is given on the basis of birth (right of soil). After the Civil War ended in 1865, the 14th Amendment was ratified in Parliament in July 1868. It said that all those born in the country are American citizens. The purpose of this amendment was to give American citizenship to black people who were victims of slavery. However, this amendment has been interpreted to include all children born in the United States, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. Taking advantage of this law, people from poor and war-torn countries come to America and give birth to children. These people stay in America on the basis of studies, research and job. As soon as the child is born, he gets American citizenship. Under the pretext of citizenship, parents also get a legal reason to stay in America. This trend has been in full swing in America for a long time. Critics call it berth tourism. According to the 2022 report of Pew Research Center, 16 lakh Indian children have got citizenship by birth in America. Hearing on Birthday Citizenship continues in the court. Trump had tried to ban birthright citizenship by issuing an order on January 20, 2025. A few days later, the Federal Court imposed a temporary ban on it (first 14 days). After this, this order was challenged in the courts and in many places the courts have stopped it from being implemented. The matter is still in legal battle and hearing is going on in different courts.
